In part 1, I said that your Patrol shouldn’t be just a ‘paper-patrol’.
Your Patrol will only become a great Patrol if you care enough to make it so.
You’ve got to really care about your Patrol! I mean really care!
The Scouts who are in your patrol now are the foundation. You’ve got everything you need to start building your Patrol into something great!
Alright, the first step in making your Patrol awesome is getting together.
Try scheduling your own Patrol Meeting. It can be anytime you want; it doesn’t have to be when the Troop meets. I don’t mind saying that back when I was a Patrol Leader, our Patrol was the best in the Troop! This wasn’t because we were smarter or better; the biggest reason was that we were the only Patrol to have separate Patrol Meetings.
So next time your Troop meets, talk with your Patrol about having separate meetings. I’m sure they will have some great ideas! Tell your Scoutmaster about what your Patrol wants to do, and see if he has any suggestions. Go at it with patience and dedication, and you’ll find your Patrol will get a real life of its own!
What things are you doing to help your Patrol get better? Have you had any Patrol Meetings? How did they go?
In part 3, I’ll show you some of the cool things you can do at these meetings!
