For most of the last 35 years I’ve been a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America the status quo worked fine for me, co-ed Scouting was a big unknown, and being unknown it was something to resist. I was very fortunate to get to sit and talk a while with Joe Briggs and Alan McConnell from the 91st Dublin Scout Group. The 91st was visiting our Scout camp and touring during the 50th anniversary of the group. Joe is the group leader with 50 years of Scouting experience, and Alan is the group Venture leader. On this Memorial Day we honor the memories and continuing dedication of women and men who have served our country. We must rememebr that when meet, when we camp, when we march in parades and decorate the graves of those who served, the great debt we owe. Our remembrances today are one small payment on that debt, and our work in Scouting has the great potential to foster peace by educating our Scouts in a spirit of world brotherhood....

South African Scouter Peter La Roux (listen to an interview here) posted videos of this year’s Kon Tiki event on his Ropes and Poles Blog. If you aren’t familiar with Kon-Tiki the whole idea is that Scouts groups build rafts, float them on a lake and participate in a number of contests and competitions (including staying overnight on the rafts) Hennie Hamman, the manager at Arrowe Park, has compiled three videos from hours of footage taken at KonTiki 2014....
